Henry Shook Obituary


Henry Aden Shook VIRGINIA BEACH - Henry Aden Shook passed away Nov. 6, 2008, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis "Shu"; a son, Marc Shook and daughter-in-law Cindy; his daughter, Amy Shook-Perez and son-in-law Simon; two grandchildren, Lindsay C. Shook and M. Aden Shook Jr. Henry was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Sharon, Pa. He was the son of Clarence Shook and Irene Oden-Weller Shook. He graduated from Maury High School in 1942. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1944. Henry attended The College of William and Mary on a football scholarship, the class of 1947. He was a member of the Princess Anne Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. Henry was instrumental in starting the shopping center division of S.L. Nusbaum Co. and was the senior vice president there from 1960 to 1990. From 1990 to present day he was the CEO of Amy-Shu properties in Virginia Beach. Henry and Shu enjoyed many winters at Johns' Island in Vero Beach, Fla. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, 36th Street and Pacific Avenue. Burial will be private. H.D. My sincerest condolences to Marc and Amy. You had a great Dad who will be dearly missed. He was one of the first people I met when I arrived in Norfolk many years ago when the office was on Granby Street. Lots of wonderful memories.
