Ollie Dew Obituary


Ollie E. P. Dew NORFOLK - Ollie Ethel Perry Dew, 69, of the 7400 block of Spartan Ave., our beloved wife, mother, sister and friend was called home to be with the Lord Nov. 4, 2008. She was born April 28, 1939 to the late Ernest and Beatrice Perry. A native of Norfolk, she was raised in the Carney Park section of Titustown at 940 Meads Road. She attended Titustown Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. She worked for Colony Point Apartments and retired after 28 years of service. She met and later married John Dew Sr. in 1956 and recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary on Oct. 31st of this year. She was also a companion worker in Colony Point Apartments for more than 10 years. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Ollie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Dew Sr.; four sons, John Dew Jr. (Iris) and Ernest Dew Sr. (Phyllis), both of North Carolina, Keefe Dew (Melva) of Norfolk, Kenneth Dew (Leslie) of Seattle; a stepson, Bernard Williams (Patrice) of Norfolk; two daughters, Arlette Anthony (Aaron) of Chesapeake and Sophia Dew (Charles) of Norfolk; she also had children of children, Katherine Dew, Demetrius Dew, Marlon Dew and Charles Perry, all of Norfolk; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Mae Stacey and Alberta Sanders (Jeff); two brothers, Grady Perry (Cheryl) and Calvin Perry (Regina); a devoted sister-in-law, Jociel Barnes (Earl) of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Cora Edmundson (Marvin) and Hester Lucas (Joseph), both of North Carolina; an aunt, Ella Stallings; special friends, Barbara and Brenda McClease and Beatrice Perry; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 7430 Spartan Ave. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the chapel. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
