Vernice Hardy Obituary


Vernice E. Hardy CHESAPEAKE - Vernice E. Hardy, 85, of the 200 block of Thoroughbred Lane, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 7, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Hardy Sr. She was the daughter of the late Estelle Jernigan and Charles D. Love. She retired from the Norfolk City Schools and was a member of Mount Sinai United Holy Church. She is survived by her children, Gail R. Hardy-Boyd and William "Bill" H. Hardy Jr. (Kim). She has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mother Hardy is remembered for her commitment to serving the Lord Jesus Christ and how she demonstrated Christian love, kindness and wisdom. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk. A celebration of Mother Hardy's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Mount Sinai United Holy Church, 2710 Columbus Ave., Portsmouth. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.
