Mary Kraemer Obituary


Mary R. Kraemer VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Eunice "Sookie" Roseberry Kraemer entered into eternal rest Nov. 9, 2008. She was born May 25, 1923, in Norfolk. She grew up in Glenrock and attended Kempsville High School. She was a devout Catholic and loved her family dearly. She was the best mother in the world. She was married for 57 years to Walter C. Kraemer. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents, Mary and Ernest Roseberry; and a daughter, Dorothy Louise. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children: son, Walter Kraemer and wife Cheryl; daughter, Gerri Alexander and husband David; and son, Bobby and wife Brenda. She had six grandchildren, Amy Mathers and husband Terry, Darren Alexander, Kevin Kraemer, Erika and Kelsey Kraemer and their mother, Cheryl Griggs and Dylan Kraemer. She was a great-grandmother to Ryan Mathers and was looking forward to a new great-granddaughter. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Edwards and friend, Woody Woods. She was blessed with a godchild, Meg LaSalle; her aunt, Liz Crowling; her cousins, Mary Oliver, Mary Margaret Parker and Margie Robertson; and many cherished relatives. Her family wishes to thank the staff of DaVita Leigh for caring for her while on dialysis, to Lake Taylor for caring for her while at rehab, especially Melody (Pinky), Chris and Mark. Thanks to Deacon Gary at Ascension for his spiritual visits. Mary spent 17 years working in the cafeteria at Brandon Middle School which she loved. A viewing will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Ascension Catholic Church. Father James E. Parke will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be made to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
