Alice Whitley Obituary


Alice F. Whitley SMITHFIELD - Alice Faye Whitley, 63, passed away Nov. 10, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County. Alice was an owner/operator of The Twin's Olde Towne Inn for 41 years. She enjoyed serving numerous meals to friends and patrons of the establishment. Alice also enjoyed her friends of the American Legion and Bingo, and the Bunco group that met monthly at the restaurant. Preceded in death by her father, Joel Alton Whitley, Alice leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Charlotte Beatrice Darden Whitley; her sisters, Martha Raye Whitley and Charlotte Dean Whitley Greer; her brother, William "Bill" Alton Whitley; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulder Hill Road, Suffolk, VA 23435 with the Rev. Tommy Reynolds and Robert Cofield officiating. The family will receive friends in the home. The family suggests that all expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Isle of Wight Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
