Gaspire Nagy Obituary
Gaspire L. Nagy Jr. PORTSMOUTH - Gaspire Lacy "Gubby" Nagy Jr., 85, of the 200 block of Logan Drive, died Nov. 14, 2008, in Portsmouth. A native of Pocahontas, Va., he was preceded in death by his wife, Nora C. Nagy and a daughter, Sharon N. Garnes. Mr. Nagy was a retired pipefitter at Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 56, attended Portsmouth United Church of Christ and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Sangamon. Survivors include two daughters, Susan N. West of Orlando, Fla., and Patricia N. Sprague of Hampton; one son, Gaspire L. "Gubby" Nagy III of Portsmouth; one sister, Frances Borbas of Nemours, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Robbie and Jarrett West, Drew Jaeger, Ryan and Nick Nagy, Lea-Anne Peach, Kristy Brinkley and Brinda Sprague; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Charles E. Chappell. Burial with military honors will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to a veterans' organization of your choice. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
