Dorothy St. John Obituary


Dorothy Otto St. John VIRGINIA BEACH - Dorothy Otto St. John, 91, died Nov. 15, 2008, in Virginia Beach. Born Nov. 8, 1917, in Little Plymouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Marvin Otto and Zennie Longest Otto and the widow of the late Virgil W. St. John. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Rita Christine St. John; a granddaughter, Rebecca Cabelle St. John; grandson, David H. St. John, all of Virginia Beach; sisters-in-law, Edna St. John of Virginia Beach and Nina St. John of Suffolk; brother-in-law, Robert J. Barden of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. St. John was a homemaker for many years in Richmond and had lived in Virginia Beach for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach. The family would like to express its special gratitude to Jeanette Johnson and Dee Dixon, Mrs. St. John's faithful caregivers. A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, 35th Street and Holly Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach or the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hdoliver.com.

Dorothy was a wonderful woman. She was always kind and generous to me when I visited her son Steve as we were growing up. My wife, Carol, and I send our condolences.
