Alice VanNostrand Obituary


Alice M. VanNostrand VIRGINIA BEACH - Alice "Marie" VanNostrand, 79, died suddenly Nov. 15, 2008, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Marie was born in Jonesville, Va., and was a member of Miller's Chapel UMC. She was the daughter of the late Kelsey and Carrie Terry and the widow of the late Elliott VanNostrand. She was preceded in death by one son, Walter "Buddy" VanNostrand. She was survived by sisters, Nadine Bunn, Shirley Atwood, Juanita Roop; brothers, Joe Terry and wife Faye, Conn Terry, Dick Terry and R.C. Terry; two daughters, Carolyn "Sue" Whiting of Elizabeth City and Alice Dixon and husband Joey of Chesapeake; three grandchildren: grandsons, Robert Cherry and wife Tara, Taylor Cherry and wife Lyn, all of Virginia Beach and granddaughter, Shannon Bryant of Elizabeth City. Marie recently relocated to be closer to and enjoy her five great-grandchildren, Andrew Cherry, Brennan Cherry, Owen Cherry, Matthew Cherry and Anna Grace Cherry. A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. www.hdoliver.com.

i was sorry to hear the news....i was a friend of sue in high school many many years ago....i don't think sue remembers me but i remember her....i am sad for the family...i wish them peace ... i wish them strength.....from a long ago friend....missy "waring" anderson
