Pauline Cockrill Obituary


Pauline Cockrill CHESAPEAKE - Pauline Cockrill, 84, of the 3800 block of South Battlefield Blvd., died Nov. 16, 2008. A native of Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Olive Bransford. She was the widow of Roy Cockrill Jr. Together they owned and operated Cockrill Tax Service for many years. She was also predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Gwaltney and brother, Murray Bransford. Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Rubel of Virginia Beach; her children, Barbara Sluss of Suffolk, Bonnie Harkleroad of Chesapeake, Lee Cockrill and Patricia Cockrill, both of Norfolk, Brock Cockrill, Diane Cockrill and Ray Cockrill, all of Chesapeake; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren and two on the way. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Her strength and conviction in dealing with her condition is an inspiration. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Charles L. Moseley will officiate. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to join the family immediately following the committal service at 433 St. Pauls Blvd., Norfolk. Viewing will begin today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of her caregivers for their kindness and compassion.
