Janie Slade Obituary


Janie Doyle Slade VIRGINIA BEACH - Janie Doyle Slade passed away Nov. 16, 2008, in her home in Overland Park, Kan. She was preceded in death by two loving husbands, James Sampson Dugan and Harvey Kerr Slade Sr. She is survived by children, Drew and Carrie Dugan, Kathleen and Reed Plate, Kevin Dugan, Colleen and Eric Messick and Chip Slade, along with their families. Janie enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most importantly, people - as many affectionately knew her through her business for nearly 30 years, Seashore Bike Shop. One of her proudest memories was her involvement with initiating the police bicycle patrol program. The family will receive friends Thursday in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services to follow. Interment will take place in Princess Anne Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Police Foundation, P.O. Box 56385, Virginia Beach, VA 23456 or to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, 6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, VA 23518. To share condolences with the family, please go to www.altmeyer.com.
