Thomas D. Fulcher Sr. NORFOLK - Thomas D. "Dickie" Fulcher Sr., 63, passed away Nov. 18, 2008, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Dickie was a 1963 graduate of Frederick Military Academy and worked for more than 40 years in the telecommunications industry. He started his career with C&P Telephone/Bell Atlantic, retiring from Verizon. He continued working an additional 10 years with Volt Telecommunications. An avid golfer and surfer, he loved the outdoors especially the beach. He spent many weekends at his favorite place, "Full o' Cheer," his oceanfront home on the Outer Banks. If he wasn't surfing, he was sitting on the beach or deck watching the waves roll in. He was a wonderful family man and loved his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. He was close to his siblings and attentive to his mother. He enjoyed simple things: any sporting event, a good cup of coffee and sitting with the sun on his face. This tower of strength will be with us forever in our hearts and in our memories. We are comforted that he committed his life to Christ and we look forward to being together in eternity. He is survived by his loving family: son, Thomas D. Fulcher Jr. and wife Christy; grandchildren, Jackson and Skylar Fulcher; mother, Nan D. Fulcher of Chesapeake; brother, George Fulcher and wife Jacqueline; sister, Candace Fulcher, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, Greg Fulcher and wife Darcy of Chesapeake; and former wife and mother of their son, Leslie Chinappi of Norfolk. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas R. Fulcher. Also left to cherish his memory are longtime friends, Monte Barnette and Betsy Brewer, both of Norfolk. There are many extended family and friends who were supportive and loving during this difficult time and we wish to thank them for their prayers and help. A celebration of Dickie's life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. A reception will be immediately after the service. Memorial donations made in his name to the
American Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
