Catherine Brown Obituary


Catherine C. Brown NORFOLK - Catherine Cecilia "Kay" Brown, 86, passed out of her body Nov. 20, 2008. Kay was born and raised in Greenwich Village in New York City to the late Joseph and Helen Finch Kopsick. As a wife and mother, she raised six children and as a loving and caring human being she brought joy and happiness to all those around her. Kay will be remembered for the twinkle in her eyes, an enormous heart, and a contagious laugh, no doubt influenced by her Irish heritage and a firm belief in the Lord's presence. She was a charter choir member at St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of the prayer group. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Brown. Survivors include her husband, William W. Brown Sr.; five children, William Brown Jr. and wife Vivian of Tampa, Fla., Andrew Brown and wife Chiwa of Asheville, N.C., Barbara Moser and husband James of Crofton, Md., David Brown and wife Krystyna of Winston- Salem, N.C., and Michael Brown of Norfolk; a sister, Madeline Platt of Lady Lake, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a funeral Mass to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hope House Foundation or St. Pius X Catholic Church Choir Fund. Friends may send tributes to www.mem.com.
