Mae Grant Obituary

Mae A. Grant PORTSMOUTH - Mae A. Grant, 96, went to be with Christ Nov. 20, 2008. She was preceded in death by Henry Grant, her husband of 44 years. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved the Lord and lived her life to honor Him. She and Dad not only taught their children life skills, but also taught them to love the Lord, to pray and depend on Him at all times. Mom never quit praying for her family. She will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. She was a member of Alexander Baptist Church for 50 years. Mom and Dad raised five children: two daughters, Louise Gardner and husband Earl and Fay Hall and husband Mel, and three sons, Fred Ronnie Grant, Ray Grant and Roy Grant. Mae's joy later in life were her grandchildren, Cathy Regan, Teresa Cox, David Gardner, Terry "Bear" Gonzales, Tina Romero, Shane Grant, Jennifer Grant, Chris Miller and Vickie Condit. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Archie Corbin. The family will welcome friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Alexander Baptist Church. Special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Terry Yarbrough. He was there through the years. His compassion and caring cannot be equaled. Also, thanks to Steve Davis at Maryview Nursing Care Center. He made Mom's last days easier. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
