John Floyd Obituary


John S. Floyd VIRGINIA BEACH - John S. "Jack" Floyd, 81, passed away Nov. 20, 2008. Born in South Norfolk, he was the son of the late William S. and Marjorie S. Floyd. Jack graduated from Maury High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a standing member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge No. 335. Jack retired from civil service after 30 years of dedicated service. One might also remember him from Ryan School or Fairlanes Bowling Alley. Jack leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Verna C. Floyd; his only son, John L. Floyd and his wife Lori; two grandchildren, Whitney and Josh; and a host of friends and family. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. Masonic honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Home, 9 Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223.
