Elsie Goode Obituary


Elsie Eva Goode CHESAPEAKE - Elsie Eva Goode, 96, of the 1100 block of Sword Drive, passed away Nov. 25, 2008, in her residence. She was born in Norfolk County, Virginia, to the late Jerimah and Maggie Bracey. Elsie was married to the late John Goode. She was retired from Ballard Fish and Oyster Company. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Chesapeake. Elsie served as an usher where she received numerous oustanding awards from the Ushers Ministry. Mrs. Goode was a graduate of Norfolk Community Hospital, School of Nursing. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Dorothy Garcia (Carmelo) of New York, Cynthia Dupree (James) of Chesapeake, Janice Benjamin (Olanders) of Suffolk; one son, Melvin Goode (Bernice) of California; 28 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grand-children, neices, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Goode and her daughter, Essie Taylor. A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Macedonia Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Burial site is in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Steele-Bullock Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Viewing will begin today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family and friends may assemble at the residence by 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church.
