Nelson Etheridge

Nelson J. Etheridge VIRGINIA BEACH - Nelson Jerome "Jerry" Etheridge, 76, passed away Nov. 27, 2008, in Virginia Beach. A native of Princess Anne County, he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Eva E. Etheridge. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company as an agent. He was a member of the Princess Anne Masonic Lodge No. 25, A.F. & A.M., for more than 40 years and was also an Army veteran of Korea. He attended the University of Richmond. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary R. Etheridge; his son, Nelson J. Etheridge Jr.; his brothers, William "Tony" Thomas Etheridge, Vernon "Jack" Alfred Etheridge, Wilson "Dick" Edward Etheridge and Harrison "Harry" Lee Etheridge; and a sister, Rosa "Polly" Flora. Jerry is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Williams and husband Nathaniel of Chesapeake and Patti Mae Stone and husband Thomas of Virginia Beach; six sisters, Mildred Wilson of Virginia Beach, Bertie Trump of Franklin, Betty Henley of Virginia Beach, Florence Nicklas of Virginia Beach, Anita Harrell of Chesapeake and Louise Harrell of Urbanna, Va.; and a brother, Bennie Etheridge of Scarboroughs Neck, Va. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael D. Sherwood II and wife Angie of Virginia Beach, Amanda E. Williams, Alexis N. Williams and Natalie M. Williams, all of Chesapeake; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley E. Sherwood and Madison B. Sherwood, both of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by the Rev. Kevin Milcarek. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
