Orin Reams Sr.

Orin Paul Reams Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Orin Paul Reams Sr., 78, passed away Nov. 27, 2008. He was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Los Angeles, the youngest of three children of the late Daniel (Owen D. Hurlbut) Reams and Catharina Dorothea Koch Reams. He was predeceased in death by his first wife of 32 years, Valerie D. Mattingly Reams and his second wife of 20 years, Edna Mae "Michelle" Philips Reams. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in June 1947 and retired as a U.S. Air Force senior master sergeant with 21 years of service. His early duty assignments were with fighter, transport and bomber squadrons/wings. He later transitioned to duty as an aircraft engine instructor. He was authorized to wear the Flight Engineer badge and Instructor insignia and was awarded the following: Air Force Commendation Medal, Army and Air Force Good Conduct Medals, World War II Army of Occupation Medal with Berlin Airlift Clasp, Medal for Human Action and other awards. After retirement from the U.S. Air Force, he began a long career teaching aircraft engine repair and overhaul. Survivors include his son, retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Orin P. Reams Jr. and his wife Quelle of Chesapeake; son, Daniel M. Reams and his wife Anna of Simi Valley, Calif.; daughter, Tammie V. Reams and her husband Bob Boardman of Henderson, Nev.; daughter, Terry Lamb of Chesapeake; six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Mr. Reams will be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, Calif., at a later date.
