Mary Ann K. Bush GREENSBORO - Mrs. Mary Ann Kumler Bush, 82, died at her home Nov. 30, 2008. Mary Ann was a member of several organizations including the Wesley Long Community Hospital Auxiliary, Greensboro Symphony Guild, Leadership Greensboro Seniors, Greensboro Forum and a longtime supporter of the United Way. She was an avid tennis player and a willing snow skier. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious; she was extremely proud of her family. She was a native of Kewanna, Ind., and the daughter of Harly Bright and Mary Belle Wilson Kumler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter B. Bush, former president and publisher of the Greensboro Record; sisters, Margaret Hargraves, Florence Smith, Charlotte Brown; and her brother, Harlan Kumler. She is survived by her daughter, Carol B. Childress and husband Frank of Statesville, N.C.; and son, Marc R. Bush and his wife Janis; grandchildren, David Childress of Statesville, John Childress and wife Melinda of Lewisville, Alyson Bush, Hayley Bush; and great-grandchildren, Emily Childress, Avery Childress and Jackson Childress of Statesville. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member and active participant. The family will greet friends in the fellowship center of the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greensboro Urban Ministries, 305 W. Lee St., Greensboro, NC 27406 or to Broad Street United Methodist Church, Organ Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 169, Statesville, NC 28687. The family is deeply appreciative to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, especially Cameo Porter and Teresa Coleman and to Wilma Coffey, her friend and caregiver. Hanes Lineberry, North Elm Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
