Patricia Van Duzer Obituary


Patricia Young Van Duzer NORFOLK - Patricia Young Van Duzer, 71, formerly of the 6900 block of Doummar Ave., passed away Dec. 1, 2008, in Chesapeake. A native of Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Evelyn Young and the widow of James A. Van Duzer. She retired from Southland Cork as a quality control supervisor. She graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1997. She was a graduate of the Master Gardner Program and regularly volunteered at Norfolk General Hospital. She was previously a volunteer EMT for the City of Chesapeake. She is survived by four daughters, Rosellen L. Goodwin and husband Charles of Chesapeake, Catherine Abbott and husband Gary of Georgetown, Texas, Cynthia Morris and husband John of Loxley, Ala., and Lisa Crouch and husband David of Chesapeake; two sons, Charles Van Duzer of Norfolk and Scott Van Duzer and wife Cynthia of Nebraska; a brother, Ronald Young and wife Betsy of Homesdale, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Champ. She was predeceased by two sisters, Elaine and Jeannie and her devoted dog, M&M. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to your local Humane Society. It's always hard to say goodbye to the ones we love so much, May your families know that our thoughts and prayers are with you also during this sorrowful time. Pat such a beautiful, thoughtful and caring person, mother, grandmother, Great grandmother, and mother in law. I was so blessed to have know her. Rest in Peace Pat.
