Ardis Brock Obituary


Ardis H. Brock VIRGINIA BEACH - Ardis Hopkins Brock, 88, of the 700 block of Alliance Drive, died Dec. 1, 2008. Mrs. Brock was born in Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late David and Iva Hopkins and the widow of Fenton R. Brock Jr. Mrs. Brock had taught in the Norfolk School system in the mid-1940s at Norview High School. She was a member of Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. She came from a family of florists and gardeners and was also a member of the Ingleside Garden Club and the Ingleside Bridge Club. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn B. Peters and her husband Nicholas I. "Nick" Peters of Beltsville, Md.; a son, Kenneth Brock of Grafton, York County; a brother, Roland E. Hopkins and his wife Anita of Virginia Beach; and a granddaughter, Jeanette A. Jones of Oakton, Va. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. Craig Wansink. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 until 6 p.m. and also at the church prior to services. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Although I did not know her, I do know what it is like to lose a mother. It has been years since I have seen or heard from you. I hope you remember me from childhood.
