F. Parker Obituary


F. Blake Parker VIRGINIA BEACH - Felix Blake Parker, 80 (39x2+2), passed away Dec. 1, 2008, in Sentara Heart Hospital from complications following heart surgery. He was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Henry F. Parker and Betty Sue Lassiter Parker, and was the widower of Lillian Hopkins Parker, his wife of 45 years. Blake had retired from Virginia Dominion Power as a supervisor after 40 years of service. Blake grew up in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Maury High School, Class of 1946. Blake was a member of Norview Masonic Lodge No. 113, Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies and the Khedive Shrine Temple. Blake served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 99th Field Artillery Battalion in support of the famous 7th Cavalry Regiment in occupied Japan. Left to cherish his memory are a nephew, Brian C. Hodges and his wife Sharen of Virginia Beach; a special grand-niece, Kaysie Hodges; cousins, Ruth Mathews of Rocky Mount, N.C., Thomas Parker of Ahoskie, N.C., and Thomas Fred McDaniel and his wife Fran and their son Scott of Virginia Beach; and all his breakfast and lunch friends at the Waffle House on Shore Drive. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Abby Thornton. The family will receive friends in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, today from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.hdoliver.com.
