Andrew Baran Obituary


Andrew F. Baran Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Retired U.S. Navy Quartermaster 1st Class Andrew F. Baran Sr., 80, of the 300 block of Coventry Close, passed away Dec. 8, 2008. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Andrew and Julia Baran. He was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Louise F. Baran. Andy was a salvage diver in the U.S. Navy where he was a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict, Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968 after 21 years of service. He was active in the Fleet Reserve Association and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his son, Andrew F. Baran Jr. and wife Teresa of Mechanicsville, Md. The funeral with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Father Romeo Jazmin will officiate. The interment will be at a later date. The viewing will begin Friday with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation, 11905 Bowman Drive, Suite 510, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.
