Lora Jordan Obituary


Lora N. Jordan NORFOLK - Lora Norman Jordan, 82, of the 400 block of Lee Point Road, was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to Claudia Maxwell Norman and Allie Norman. She passed away Dec. 5, 2008, after a sudden and brief hospitalization. She graduated from Norfolk State University and received her master's in education from Old Dominion University while her youngest son was still at home. She taught in the Norfolk public school system for many years, receiving many honors including Reading Teacher of the Year in 1989. She was a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She was an active member of her beloved Queen Street Baptist Church. The devoted wife of Fred Sr., loving mother to Jaye, Sekou, Jean and Norma (deceased), she is also survived by five grandkids, Adrienne and Rachel Jordan, Chris, Jeana and Walter Toney; and a host of nieces, nephews and Grands. The viewing and Delta Sigma Theta service will be Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk, VA 23504. A funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Queen St. Baptist Church, 413 E. Brambleton Ave., with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com.
