Henry Owens Obituary


Henry T. Owens VIRGINIA BEACH - Henry T. Owens of the 2300 block of Princess Anne Road died Dec. 5, 2008. He was born in Philadelphia and served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. He retired from Naval Air Station Norfolk after 30 years of dedicated service. Survivors include one sister, Osceola Rose of Virginia Beach; a devoted cousin and caregiver, Madeline Wade of Virginia Beach; two nieces, Leaffa Jones of Baltimore and Doris Ragin of Philadelphia; one nephew, Otis G. Dickerson Jr. of Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Sallie Smith of Virginia Beach and Jean Ryland of Portsmouth; a brother-in-law, Henry C. Morings; a special friend, Stanley Woodhouse, both of Virginia Beach; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Mazer Ruth Owens; parents, Oscar and Julia Owens; sisters, Ophelia Gonzales and Alberta Dickerson; and nephew, Leonard Henry Wilson Sr. A service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Mount Zion AME Church, 2268 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is handling the arrangements.
