Thomas Wright Obituary


Thomas H. Wright PORTSMOUTH - Thomas Henry Wright, 86, of the 500 block of Shenandoah St., passed away Dec. 12, 2008, in a local hospital. Born May 7, 1922, in Roanoke, Va., he was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annice Wright and a son, Clifton H. Wright. Thomas was a member of the Purple Heart Association. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later went to work in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 51, where he retired as an electrician after many years of service. He is survived by his wife, Marion E. Wright; three sons, Carlyle Wright and wife Ann, Larry D. Wright and John T. Wright and wife Loretta; two sisters, Shirley Mitchell and Hazel Temple; a brother, Richard Allen Wright; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Norman March. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in their home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 511 Shenandoah St., Portsmouth, VA 23707. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
