Bette Riesmeyer Obituary

Bette Bingley Riesmeyer NEWPORT NEWS - Bette Bingley Riesmeyer, 73, passed away peacefully Jan. 14, 2009. Born in DeKalb, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sara Bingley. Bette graduated from Indiana University with a Master of Arts in Education. She taught English in the Hampton school system until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends at Morningside Assisted Living Center and especially enjoyed rooting for NASCAR driver, Kasey Kahne. Bette is survived by her daughter, Wendy H. Ross and husband Jim and their daughter, Kaitlyn R. Hitchings, all of Chesapeake; son, Mark C. Riesmeyer of Portland, Ore.; and former husband, James F. Riesmeyer of Hampton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Funeral Home, Warwick Blvd., Newport News. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of Mary Immaculate Hospital, Unit 3B and the Palliative Care Team for their tender, loving care during her final days. Condolences may be offered to the family at Peninsula Funeral Home.
