To Connie and Owen, family and friends: I am sorry that I never was privileged to meet Joey. Through Connie, however, I felt I knew the wonderful person he was. I am feeling the loss deeply, myself. Though he will be missed, I know The Lord has great plans for him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Joey is a Marine brother to my son Sean Polk. The high school years he spent at our house with Sean and his friends hold many happy memories in our hearts. He touched many lives with his friendship and smiles. Anyone who knew him loved him. He will always be missed and thought of with love. Our hearts and prayers are with all his family and friends. He is with our Lord smiling down on us. Love and miss you Joey. Love Colleen and Uwe Loebe , Sean and James Polk. You are forever in our hearts and prayers.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Cpl. Joey Irwin.
My grandson Cpl. Andrew (Smitty) Smith, served with Joey and called me the day he was killed. He was quite shaken but wanted me to know since I am a Ride Captain with the Patriot Guard Riders. Our organization attends upon invitation, the funerals of our fallen heroes. As I am located in North Carolina I forward Joey's obituary to my Patriot Guard brothers and sisters in Virginia. It is my hope, as it was of my grandson, that the Patriot Guard can be there to show honor and respect to our fallen hero.
May God Bless and keep you... Joey will never be forgotten. Marines guard the streets of Heaven and Joey now has a new post.
