William Elsberry Riddick

W. Elsberry Riddick BELVIDERE - William Elsberry Riddick, 79, of the 100 block of Hickory Cross Road, formerly of Salisbury and Charlotte, died Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 2009, in Albemarle Hospital. Born in Perquimans County, he was the son of the late George Robert and Margaret Louise Winslow Riddick. He retired as a claims manager with Michigan Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of Up River Friends Meeting, Perquimans Masonic Lodge No. 106, American Legion Post No. 126, the NRA, the B & N Hunt Club and the Salisbury Elks Club. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Survivors include his brother, J. Quincy Riddick and wife Lessie; a sister-in-law, Alice Bea Riddick; a niece, Faye White and husband John E.; nephews, Philip Riddick and wife LuAnn, all of Belvidere and Jimmy Riddick of Hertford. He was predeceased by a brother, George R. Riddick. The family will meet at the home of Quincy Riddick, 115 Hickory Cross Road, Belvidere. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Up River Friends Meeting with Pastor Richard Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.
