Mary Walker Obituary

Mary B. Walker VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary B. Walker, 82, of the 4800 block of Old Harris Lane, passed away Jan. 22, 2009, in her home. Mrs. Walker, a native of Bluefield, W.Va., retired as the assistant supervisor of special education for the City of Virginia Beach in January of 1994, after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and the Bible Study Fellowship International. Mrs. Walker attended Old Dominion University and the University of Virginia where she earned her BS, MS and CAS in speech pathology, special education and public school administration, and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Mrs. Walker was predeceased by her husband, Hubert O. Walker and her grandson, E. James White Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene W. White of Virginia Beach; and six sons, Hubert O. Walker Jr. of Amherst, N.Y., Kenneth D. Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., George R. Walker of Virginia Beach, M. Edgar Walker of Virginia Beach, Thomas H. Walker of Frederick, Md., and James L. Walker of Woodbridge, Va.; cousin, Sadie M. Munford of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Sunday at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Chris Fosback officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
