Marie Schwartz Obituary

Marie A. Schwartz CHESAPEAKE - Marie Anna Schwartz, 74, of Redmere Court, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 22, 2009. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Gramer. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stephanie Smith. Marie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She supported her husband for many years while he served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Louie A. Schwartz Sr.; three daughters, Marie A. Sawyer and husband Kenneth, Carolyn M. Smith and husband Atlee, Carrie L. Brown; two sons, Louie A. Schwartz Jr. and John A. Schwartz and wife Amy; seven grandchildren, Ken Jr., Lisa, Atlee Jr., Joseph, U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Johnathan Schwartz, Joshua and Rachel; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Brandon; and a brother, Connie M. Gramer. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Bethel Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Kenneth Sawyer Jr. will officiate. The interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment in the church fellowship hall. The viewing will begin Sunday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Autumn Care, Great Bridge, for the love and care given to Mrs. Schwartz during her illness.
