William Walker Obituary

William C. Walker VIRGINIA BEACH - Lt. Col. William C. Walker died peacefully Jan. 25, 2009, of advanced heart disease at age 75. He was born in Fairmont, W.Va., raised in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated from University of Virginia. He served our country for 20 years as an Army officer and helicopter pilot including three-year-long combat tours (Korea, Vietnam twice). He settled in Virginia Beach in 1976 and began a successful second career as an investment advisor. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Walker; daughter, Mary Lynn McNeil; son, William C. Walker, M.D.; six grandchildren, John Thomas, Sean Walker, Corinne Elizabeth, Connor James, Matthew Danila and Maura Allyson; stepchildren, Robert J. McNeely and Ginger L. Bateman; four stepgrandchildren; sister, Helen Hope Webb; and brother, Walter W. Walker. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann Thomas Walker. His love for conversation, larger-than-life personality and devotion as father, grandfather and husband will carry on in our memories forever. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Reuter. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and following the service. In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Colleen,
Kenny and I are so very sorry for your loss. Bill was such a nice man and will be surely missed. Please know that we are praying for your strength during this time, and rest assure that Bill is now with our Lord watching over you. God Bless You Colleen.
