Samuel Hicks Obituary

Samuel E. Hicks Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Samuel Eddie Hicks Sr. of the 600 block of River Creek Road went to be with his heavenly Father Jan. 23, 2009, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1936, to the late Maggie and John H. Hicks Sr. in Chesapeake. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy Hicks and special companion, Gladys Johnson; nine daughters, Capria (William), Phyllis, Karen, Sherry (Anthony), Lynette, Dorarena, Veronica, Monica and Tanja; seven sons, Samuel E. Hicks Jr., Maurice (Theresa), Travis, Robert, David, Jermaine and Mike; four brothers, Roosevelt Hicks, Cleveland Hicks, Marvin Hicks and Carlton Hicks; six sisters, Marian Hicks, Mildred Jones, Mary Ford, Yvonne Hicks, Jacqueline Hicks and Eunice Hicks; and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. A celebration of his life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

Mr. Hicks, or as I fondly referred to him as "my buddy," was truly a joy to work with. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Just remember that weeping endureth for a night, BUT JOY cometh in the morning. Rest in peace my buddy until we meet again.
