Linda Robbins Obituary

Linda Lou Robbins EDENTON - Linda Lou Robbins, 61, joined our Heavenly Father in his eternal kingdom on the evening of Jan. 23, 2009. A lifelong Christian, Linda battled complications resulting from a lung disease diagnosed in 1997 and metastatic breast cancer beginning in 2002, never wavering in her trust and love for the Lord. As her health waned, she assured her loved ones that she did not fear death because she trusted the promise of our Father that she would join him in heaven. It is that promise that comforts us all in the loss of our loved one. Linda was predeceased by her mother, Mittie Jane Atwater. She is survived by her beloved husband, William B. Robbins. No family could ask for a better marital partner for their loved one than Bill. He truly fulfilled his marital promise to love her in sickness and in health. They shared a loving, happy life together and in her illness he cared for her and was her "voice" when she was no longer able to speak for herself. Everyone should be so blessed. Additional survivors include her beloved son, William Smith of Davenport, Iowa; sisters, Gloria J. Allen, Mary Richardson (Kenny) and Michelle Blake (Bob Deaton) of Portsmouth; brothers, Mark Atwater of Portsmouth and Michael Atwater of Columbia, S.C.; nieces, Laura Tarkenton (Brian, Brandon and Landon) of Portsmouth, Susan Sellers of Norfolk and Sarah Atwater of Columbia; nephews, Kenny Richardson of Seattle, Michael E. Atwater of Columbia, Jeremy Atwater (Brody) of Stephenson, Va., and Bradley Atwater (Adriel) of Columbia. Also, many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, their spouses, children, grandchildren and a vast number of much loved relatives in the Carolinas. Diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) at the age of 50, Linda received a life saving lung transplant a few years later for which she and her family were and are eternally grateful. PF is an idiopathic disease, with no known cause or cure. Upon learning this, Linda made the decision, then and there, that upon her death she would donate her body for medical study in hopes that a cure could be found. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Bandon Chapel, 200 Bandon Road, Edenton, NC 27932. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bandon Chapel, Edenton Food Pantry, 1370 N. Broad St., Edenton, NC 27932 or The Salvation Army, 602 N. Hughes Blvd., Elizabeth City, NC 27909. "She was as good as she was fair; None, none on earth above her! As pure in thoughts as angels are - To know her was to love her." - Samuel Rogers Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton is serving the Robbins' family.

Linda always shared her love for Christ with all those around her and she made it a point to make sure that you knew were you loved by both the Savior and by her.
