Lois Hux Obituary

Lois B. Hux PORTSMOUTH - Lois B. Hux, 94, passed away peacefully Jan. 24, 2009. She was born in Monroe, N.C., to the late George W. Belk and Ada Belk Belk. She moved to Portsmouth to work following World War II after attending King's Business College. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Lois was a pianist, avid golfer, and above all an animal lover, especially of her Boston Terriers who graced her life over the years. Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Hilary Vernon Hux. She is survived by her husband of six years, H. Rowland "Mac" Ellis; two nieces, Sue Hill of Monroe, N.C., and Rikki Payne of Washington state. She also leaves behind special cousins through marriage, cherished close friends, and "Angel," her last Boston Terrier companion. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Ellen W. Comstock. Burial will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in Lois' name to the Portsmouth Humane Society or to a charity of your choice. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
