Lorraine R. Companion

Lorraine R. Companion PORTSMOUTH - Lorraine Rich Companion, 88, died Jan. 26, 2009. Mrs. Companion, a native of Deepdale, Manitoba, Canada, was a former resident of Marian Manor in Virginia Beach and was formerly active in St. Therese, Holy Spirit and Sacred Heart Catholic churches. She was the widow of Clinton W. Rich and retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Robert Companion. She was preceded in death by her son, Woody Rich; a sister, Muriel White; and a brother, Rod Sanders. Survivors include three daughters, Dyan R. Crone and husband Bill, Rowena R. Prentice and husband David, all of Portsmouth, Bernice R. Manning and husband Jim of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Daniel Klem. Friends may join the family today from 6 to 8 p.m. in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, Suffolk, and at the daughter's home, 504 Fairfax Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507, following the funeral Mass. Burial will be private in Portsmouth Catholic Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Marian Manor Assisted Living and Maryview Nursing Care Center for their loving care of Lorraine.
