Paula Payton Obituary

Paula N. Payton NORFOLK - Paula N. Payton, 83, of the 8200 block of Simons Drive, passed away Jan. 27, 2009, in Norfolk. A native of Key West, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Effie Higgs and the widow of Frank B. Payton Jr. She retired as a special services Naval station clerk. She was a member of the Federation of Garden Clubs of Norfolk, the Tidewater Designers Guild and the Tidewater China Painters Club. She is survived by her two sons, Michael G. Payton and wife Carmen and Patrick L. Payton and wife Sharon, all of Norfolk; her brother, Henry Demeritte of Woodbridge, Va.; two grandchildren, Kyle Payton and Shawn Payton; and three great-grandchildren, Shawna Payton, Tristan Payton and Carley Payton. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. The burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family will be at 8268 Gygax Road, Norfolk, following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk SPCA. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.
