Dale Griffith Obituary

Dale A. Griffith VIRGINIA BEACH - Dale Anthony "Griff" Griffith died Jan. 23, 2009, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on Veteran's Day in 1931 in Bennington, Vt., he was the oldest of six children. He was predeceased by his father, Louis James and his mother, Barbara Ashley. He retired from the Army after serving 22 years with a tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he worked as a manager at the Officer's Club at Fort Story, a manager of an ABC store, then NAPA Auto Parts. Some of his most enjoyable moments were spent on his farm in Pungo with his wife. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; beloved brothers, Gary and Bruce; sister, Mavis; his loving children, Louis, Dale, Rick and Debra; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, with whom all his beloved memories will truly be cherished. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rosetta and Louise. At Griff's request, there will be no service, we ask that everyone just set aside a moment of prayer for him.

He was a great Grandfather, Father in Law, and Father, to me and and my children and my wife. Our memory of him will be the summers spent with him in Virginia Beach. We love you Dad, Louis and Family

Griff was a strike of humor when he would come around to the cabinet shop near his home where I work, he will be sorely missed.
