Miles Williams Obituary

Miles S. Williams DENDRON - Miles Stacy Williams, 56, died Jan. 25, 2009. Born Dec. 9, 1952, in Norfolk, he retired in 1992 after 20 years service with the Air National Guard and he was a pipe fitter with the Navy Public Works Center in Norfolk (Little Creek). Stacy had a lifelong interest in raising and breeding Collies and was co-owner with his wife of Dune Collie Kennels in Surry County. He is survived by his wife of nearly 21 years, Gene Leslie Williams; his mother, Mary G. Williams of Norfolk; two sons, John Preston Williams (Dawn) of Chesapeake, Christopher Miles Williams of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter, Lauren Skyler Williams; four brothers, Don Williams, Kevin Williams and Ray Williams, all of Norfolk, and PJ Williams of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his father, Preston Paul Williams; and a brother, Larry Williams. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield. Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Collie Rescue, P.O. Box 221982, Chantilly, VA 20153.

I met Stacy in 1976 when we both started our Apprentice Program at Norfolk Naval Base Public Works Center and upon completion worked with him. He was a good man and will be missed. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family.
