Eileen Cook Obituary

Eileen C. Cook VIRGINIA BEACH - It is with deep sadness that after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, Eileen Corbett Cook, 56, passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2009. Eileen was a beloved wife, mother, friend and Renaissance woman. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her sons, Marcus and Michael; her daughter, Natalie; and her two sisters and four brothers. Eileen was born Feb. 18, 1952, to Edward Dwyer Corbett and Harriette Thomson in St. Louis, Mo. After graduating from Kirkwood High School in St. Louis, she worked for Bell Telephone in advertising. She then served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1977 and was stationed in NAVCOMSTA Japan and NAVCOMSTA Philippines. Eileen was also a dedicated naval spouse for 35 years. Eileen graduated in 1995 from St. Leo College with a BS in business management. She was a longtime associate of the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) with 21 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed reading, singing, dancing, traveling, drinking wine and enjoying life with her family and friends. Eileen was truly an amazing woman and an inspiration to everyone. Her strength, determination, positive attitude, contagious smile and sense of humor will forever remain in our hearts. She will be immensely missed. A viewing will be held today from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and visitation with the family will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 3600 Virginia Beach Blvd. Eileen will be laid to rest in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
