Thomas Robinson Obituary

Thomas Robinson SUFFOLK - Thomas Robinson, 85, died Jan. 30, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, March 25, 1923. He was the son of the late Lester W. Smith and Grace I. McMahon Smith Robinson. Mr. Robinson retired from the National Guard as a sergeant first class and served in the Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II and the Korean conflict aboard the USS New York, USS Corvus and the USS Donner (LSD-20). He was a member of Portsmouth Masonic Lodge No. 100 and Holy Communion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda Washington Robinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Martha Robinson, Patrick Neal Robinson, all from Gloucester, David Dean and Melissa Robinson of Portsmouth; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson with burial in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. with Masonic rites at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Suffolk, 139 S. Saratoga St., Suffolk, VA 23434 or to a charity of choice. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
