Naomi Hardy Obituary

Naomi Hardy VIRGINIA BEACH - Naomi "Big Mama" Hardy, 92, passed away Jan. 26, 2009. She was born Sept. 13, 1916, to the late Nora and John Bethea in Dillon, S.C. Naomi was a member of Eternal Life Christian Center and attended Endtime United Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence A. Hardy and two sons, Robert and Glenn Barron. She is survived by two daughters, M. Florence Knight and Sandy Lee (Daniel); five sons, Walter Thomas Bethea (Lottie), Tommy Lee Barron, Toney Leo Barron (Grace), Daryton Barron and William Eric Barron (Ellie); sister-in-law, Marie Bethea of Plainfield, N.J.; 37 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; raised as her own children, Barry Goodwin, Kym Washington-Barron, John Bynum, Bessie Bynum-Pringle and Ammie Bynum-Carson; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Elder Joyce Washington will officiate. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel. A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Monday prior to the service.
