Otis Bullock Obituary

Otis F. Bullock CHESAPEAKE - Otis Franklin "Pete" Bullock, 78, went to meet our Lord Feb. 1, 2009, with his loving family by his side. A native of Lynchburg, Va., he resided in Chesapeake for a number of years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. Mr. Bullock was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Lynchburg but attended for many years Great Bridge Church of Christ in Chesapeake. After retiring, he spent his time collecting and reading books of all kinds. He was known for sharing many endless stories of his childhood and adolescence. Some stories were told many times over, but they were always new to those who listened. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Dixie Davis Bullock; three daughters, Ann J. Vaughan and husband Stanley Ray, Janet Lee Williams and husband Dennis Earl, Jeanne M. Bullock, all of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Ashley "Puddin" Williams, Earlyne "Puss" Williams, Stanley "Joseph" Vaughan and fianceé Ashley and Daniel "Hot Shot" Vaughan; two brothers, Robert M. Bullock and wife Alice of Lynchburg and John L. Bullock and wife Susan of Madison Heights, Va.; a sister, Barbara G. Minnix of Chesapeake; a special sister-in-law, Mary Alice Gilbert of Virginia Beach; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many loving family friends. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Leon Williams and the Rev. Lanny Smith will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The viewing will begin Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Chesapeake. The family wishes to thank the doctors and various medical staffs for their care over the years. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and to view the service via live web cast at www.omanfh.com.
