Alice Cherry Obituary

Alice M. Cherry NORFOLK - Alice M. Cherry, 68, passed away Feb. 2, 2009, in a local nursing center. A native Norfolk, Alice was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Louise Chapman and the widow of Melvin H. Cherry. She is survived by a son, Ernest M. Cherry of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Tammy L. Henderson and husband Clay of Winter Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Doris Wall of Chesapeake, Ruby Frier of Virginia Beach and Leahray Gaulin of Union, Maine; two grandchildren, John and Emily Henderson of Winter Haven; a cousin, Sandra C. Chesnutt of Virginia Beach; and two sisters-in-law, June Cherry of Arkansas and Faye Webster of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Warren Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Aunt Alice was a great lady and a good friend to me as I grew up. She all ways had a kind word and sound advice which I have never forgotten over so many years.
