Vera Juanita Henderson Whiteside

Vera H. Whiteside NORFOLK - Vera Juanita Henderson Whiteside, 89, passed from this life to be with her Lord Feb. 1, 2009, in a local health care facility. She was born in Kimballton, Va., to Maxwell and Laura Gilliam Henderson. She was a member of Norview Baptist Church for more than 55 years. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, James D. Whiteside Sr. and a daughter, Ethel Laura Whiteside. She and her late husband were antique collectors and operated an antique shop in Suffolk for many years. She was also an avid doll collector and will be missed by all her friends in the doll community. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James D. Whiteside Jr. and his wife Sandra of Norfolk and sister, Dorothy Crawford of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Granby St., Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the service.
