Sean Flynn Obituary

Sean M. Flynn VIRGINIA BEACH - Chief Petty Officer Sean Michael Flynn, U.S. Navy SEAL, 36, passed away Feb. 1, 2009, in his home. Sean was born in Suffern, N.Y., and moved to Virginia Beach in 1997 after joining the U.S. Navy 14 years ago. He was a highly decorated special operations chief who earned three Bronze Stars with valor and other numerous awards. Sean loved skydiving and was a certified advance freefall instructor, tandem master and an avid free flyer. Sean is survived by his parents, Eugene and Marianne Flynn of Suffern, N.Y.; a sister, Jeanne C. Dutcher; a niece, Danielle Dutcher; a great-nephew, Nicholas, all of Livingston Manor, N.Y.; his girlfriend, Molly Tatman of Virginia Beach; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends, Kari Boone, John Kanaski, Anne Marie Lewis, Ambre Scornavacchi, Billy, Greg and Sonny. He was preceded in death by his brother, James E. Flynn and his grandparents. A memorial service will be held Friday at the Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel at 2 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, who are handling arrangements. Anyone wishing to attend the service at Little Creek Chapel must call the funeral home at (757) 428-7880, to have your name added to the list for security at gate 5. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sean Flynn "Blue Skies" Sarcoma Foundation, Navy Federal Credit Union, Access No. 5144849, P.O. Box 3100, Merrifield, VA 22119-3000.
