Helen Felton Obituary

Helen E. Felton CAMDEN - Helen E. Felton of Lambs Road, died Feb. 1, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Norfolk to the late W.O. and Nellie Shackelford Saunders and was the widow of the late Joseph D. Felton. Mrs. Felton was a member of the Miles Memorial United Methodist Church, Norfolk. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed a good game of bridge and loved to travel. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Felton was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach where she raised her family. In later years of her life, she moved to Camden. She is survived by four daughters, Judy Norton and husband Bill of Camden, Chris Schell and husband David of South Carolina, Sue Felton of Virginia Beach and Becky Hart and husband Robert of Raleigh; three sons, Larry Felton and wife Sharon of Camden, Joe Felton and wife Jennifer of Georgia and Alan Felton and wife Susan of Chesapeake. She is also survived by a sister, Joyce Cutchen and husband Bob of Colorado; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry Hart; and two sisters, Elinor Felton and Evelyn Wright. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 Church St., Elizabeth City, by the Rev. David Moehring. A private burial will be in Virginia Beach at a later date. The family will receive family and friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the chapel service. Afterwards, everyone is invited to Mrs. Felton's residence to continue the celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity. The family will be at the residence, 339 Lambs Road, Camden. You may send condolences to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
