Myra Cason Obituary

Myra S. Cason NORFOLK - Myra S. Cason, 70, sadly passed away on the morning of Feb. 11, at Duke University Medical Center of North Carolina, after a prolonged battle with a debilitating illness. She was born in Norfolk, Feb. 19, 1939, to the late William R. Spear and Ella Kathryn Spear. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James L. Cason Jr. of Norfolk; two sons, Clifford R. Cason and Allen L. Cason his wife Carolyn; and two grandchildren, Connor and Kyleigh. She is also survived by her two brothers, William Russell Spear Jr. of Virginia Beach and David R. Spear and his wife Barbara of Delan, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Myra was a graduate of Norview High school and Radford College. She proudly served the City of Norfolk as the women's athletic director, as well as a physical education teacher at Norfolk Christian High School, and later went on to a successful career in real-estate, retiring after 23 years. She attended First Baptist Church of Norfolk becoming a member of the evangelist explosion group in which she shared her belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidence but rather, it's a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan inspired by God. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA 23502, Thursday, at 5 p.m. with Dick Baker presiding. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association (www.lungusa.org) or First Baptist Church of Norfolk (www.firstnorfolk.org). Condolences may be offered to the family on-line at www.woodlawngroup.com.
