Lillian Borte Obituary

Lillian J. Borte NORFOLK - Lillian Jacqueline "Jackie" Borte, 80, passed away Feb. 15, 2009, at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 25, 1928, in Norfolk. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend anyone could have. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert C. Borte Sr.; her son, Robert C. "Chuck" Borte Jr.; her father, Edward Fritzinger; her mother, Lillian L. Fritzinger; and her brother, Edward G. Fritzinger. She is survived by her daughters, Lyndle J. Holland and husband CR, Mari Lou Carrithers and husband Mike and Peggy Borte; her sons, Gerald M. "Mickey" Borte and wife Cindie, Richard W. "Rickey" Borte Sr. and David E. Borte Sr. and wife Wanda; a brother, Martin "Mickey" Fritzinger and wife Marty, all of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, of which she was extremely proud; also a score of nieces, nephews and friends. She retired from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel Commission. She was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a former member of the Bay Haven Garden Club and of the Catholic Daughters of America. She will be fondly remembered. She lived life to the fullest and was always optimistic even in the toughest of times. Her love and strength was second to none. A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. To the Borte family, I was saddened to learn of Jackie's death. I worked with her at the CBBT and was glad that I had the opportunity to see her and her family at our last company picnic. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
