William Slaughter Obituary

William Slaughter Sr. CHESAPEAKE - William P. Slaughter Sr. went home to be with the Lord Feb. 16, 2009, after a long illness. He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army and was currently a member of the Korean War Association. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Slaughter; two sons, Bill Slaughter of Gates, N.C., and Charles A. Slaughter of Chesapeake; a sister, Lucille Miller of Mathews, Va.; four brothers, Kelly Slaughter and Alton Slaughter, both of Deltaville, Va., Kenneth Slaughter and Jimmy Slaughter, both of Arizona; three grandchildren, Michael Sullivan, Brandy L. Slaughter and Dustin Lee Slaughter; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Carlton Smith and Mr. Roger Whilly. Burial will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
