Walter McCoy Obituary

Walter McCoy II VIRGINIA BEACH - Walter I. McCoy II, 74, passed away Feb. 15, 2009, in Virginia Beach. He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Charlotte, N.C., and was the son of the late Marguerite Maury and Percy Beach McCoy. His brother, Richard M. McCoy, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Virginia Trerotola McCoy; stepsons, M. Lee Shearin of Virginia Beach and Christopher L. Shearin of Essex Fells, N.J.; his children from his marriage to Charlene Gaylord McCoy, Katherine M. Johnston of North Potomac, Md., Matthew B. McCoy of North Kingstown, R.I., and Kimberley M. Terwilliger of Frederick, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He attended St. Paul's School in Baltimore and George Washington University. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired in 1997 from a career in sales. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially those at Rockafeller's, Rudee's and O'Sullivan's restaurants. The interment will be this spring at Arlington National Cemetery and will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local chapter of the American Heart Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Nelsen Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
